Isofix Bases

An Isofix base offers a secure way of attaching your baby’s car seat to your car. It’s a safe and easy-to-use method of anchoring the car seat directly to your car’s chassis. You will be able to secure your car seat into the vehicle with a simple click of a button and detach the seat easily when you want to take it out to put it onto your travel system.

Do You Need an Isofix Base? 

You don’t always require an Isofix base for your car seat. Many models will secure in a safe way using the car seat belt. However, there are benefits to using an Isofix car seat base. By connecting the car seat to a base attached to your car’s chassis, it makes it safer. There is less chance of the seat fitting incorrectly.  

Most models can be secured without a base; however, others will require a one, and you will have to check if your base needs to be connected by Isofix when you buy it. If your car doesn’t have Isofix anchor points, you may need to choose a different model.  

Isofix bases are closely associated with newborn car seats. When combined with a travel system, they offer a quick and easy way to take your child out of the car without unbuckling the seatbelts or removing them from their seat. However, due to the increase in safety they provide, many car seats for older babies and toddlers are seeing the benefits of an Isofix base. Many of our birth to four car seats are i-size models and come with the recommendation of an Isofix base unless they have a built-in base, so be sure to check the advice of your chosen model to find out if you require a base.  

Choosing the Right Isofix Car Seat Base 

Your required Isofix base will depend on the model of car seat you have, so be sure to know which you are shopping for ahead of browsing; then, you can use our handy filter to help you find the brand you need.  

Suppose you chose a travel system with a car seat and a base recommended. In that case, you may find that it has been included within the travel system bundle, for example, with our Bugaboo Cameleon 3 ready to go further bundle which consists of the Bugaboo Turtle Air car seat and its Isofix base.
